9/23/09… Looking Good

Had my checkup with Dr. Opth today and he’s happy with the way my eye looks. In fact, he’s stretched out my next appointment to 4 months so it’ll be 2010 before I see him again.

I mentioned to him the theory of my eye watering because it was dry and that using eye drops (even though it’s watering) helps cut back on the watering. He’s like, well sure. Hmm, I don’t remember him mentioning that during my last appointment when I told him my eye was watering. Perhaps he thought I was using the drops (as directed) rather than foregoing them because my eye was already “wet.”

  2. Dear CJ,
I too have conjunctival melanoma that was diagnosed in March of 2006. As we both know it is rare and hasn’t been talked about much at all.
I am currently doing very well with my right eye which first had the tumor on it. I had sugery with cryofreeze and radiation.
My left eye has a tumor in the eye near the optic nerve. At this point I have had surgery to biopsy it and it is currently benign but as a result I have limited vision in the left eye.
I would enjoy sharing with you about treatments and progress.
My wife and I live in North Carolina but my care is given by Dr. Timothy Murray at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL. Long story short – my youngest daughter knew him when she lived in Miami and she arranged for my first visit. This is his specialty and he is extremely high in rankings for his treatment and care of many melanoma’s of the eye – Conjunctival, Ocular, etc.
Please feel free to email me at gcapen@gmail.com
    Sincerely,
    Gary Capen
